Susanna Axelsson, Tandläkare, Odontologie doktor, Susanna Madora Salter (née Kinsey; March 2, 1860 – March 17, 1961) was an American politician and activist. She served as mayor of Argonia, Kansas, becoming the first woman elected as mayor and one of the first women to serve in any political office in the United States. She married Lewis Allison Salter, the son of former Lieutenant-Governor Melville J. Salter, on September 1, 1880, at Silver Lake. Lewis and Susanna moved to Argonia, Kansas, in 1882, and he took a job managing the local hardware store. Susanna Madora Salter was elected the first woman mayor in the United States.

While attending college, she married Lewis Salter and moved to Argonia. Her parents also moved to the area and built a two-story brick house for her and her husband. Her father, Oliver Kinsey, fired the bricks in his own kiln. The house was finished in 1885. But 134 years ago, Susanna M. Salter raised quite a fuss and put the town on the map.
